I came to Joy after several years of custody issues with my daughter that I thought would resolved by itself. Initially I would only see my daughter one night a week and one day on the weekend with no overnights. I tired to reason with my ex but with no success. The odds of getting equal custody (50/50) were not in my favor, but I figured something had to be done because I wasn't seeing my daughter and I didn't want to lose the precious time with my young daughter. I was scared of the legal cost the might incur during the process and the child support I will need to pay (my ex has not been working, or at least claimed to not be working). What started out as a simple custody case quickly escalated into a legal nightmare when the mother of my child filed a restraining order and tried every legal maneuver to prolong the custody hearing of our child. Joy and her team were able to diffused the legal roller coasters I was going through, present the judge with the facts and show the lack of credibility of my ex. Joy is professional, caring, and will go out of her way to make sure her clients are represented. On one of our court appearances, my ex managed to changed the judge (a commissioner) to a different court house at the same day in the afternoon. Joy had another case in the afternoon and could not represent me, however, she managed to find just as good replacement to represent me at a moment notice! Sounds too good to be true. When I first came in to consult with Joy about my situation I was worried about the legal cost that might add up. I will never forgot when she said "this will be the best money you ever spent". Boy was she right! I now have 50/50 custody, don't have to pay my ex as much child support as we originally anticipated, Joy managed to convince the judge to impute more than a minimum wage salary on my ex, but most of all I have the peace of mind my daughter will share equal time with both of her parents. If you have any family/custody issue do not hesitate to consult and hire Joy, she's a legal genie! I've said it many times and I'll continue to say it, thank you Joy! Five stars doesn't do justice, Joy deserves 10 out of 5!

Divorce is not an experience that you look forward to. It's also messy and very stressful because of the emotions and people involved. For me, hiring a lawyer was a necessity not because I wanted to penalize my ex, but because I wanted an expert that would help me navigate the cumbersome process. To say that Joy Kraft-Miles is an expert is an understatement. She is a consummate professional with a solid reputation at the Chatsworth Courthouse. Initially, I tried to tackle the process myself by going to the self-help center and filling out the documents on my own. This turned out to be overwhelming. She took my case even though I had a pending DV case. I spoke with four lawyers prior to Joy who would not take my case because of the DV. She whipped through my paperwork in one meeting and told me my case could be brought to resolution with my help. I listened to her advice, asked millions of questions and continuously asked her and her legal secretary Marcos to clarify terms, rulings, and paperwork when I did not understand what was going on. Child custody and divorce cases can be costly, anyone going into one should know that up front. That being said, Joy Kraft has been extremely reasonable & willing to work with me. The initial law firm I used was much more expensive & yielded zero results. Iin fact, I believe even hurt my case from the start. Joy took over my case & since then things have been moving in my direction & getting much better. My case is a child custody case & when it initially started (before Joy took over) I only had 6hrs of visitation per week with my child. I now have 3 overnights & 2 weekdays every other week & my case is most certainly not over so more time is on it's way. I went from about 5% time with my child to about 30% with more time most certainly on the way. Joy pays attention to detail & she knows my case just as well as I do. In her office she is attentive & mild-mannered, however in the courtroom, she is like a JUNKYARD DOG ! She is quit impressive in the courtroom & she knows family law just as well as she will know your case. I could not be happier with my choice of representation. I came to Joy after several years of custody issues with my daughter that I thought would be resolved by itself. Initially, I would only see my daughter one night a week and one day on the weekend with no overnights. I tried to reason with my ex but with no success. The odds of getting equal custody (50/50) were not in my favor, but I figured something had to be done because I wasn't seeing my daughter and I didn't want to lose the precious time with my young daughter. I was scared of the legal cost they might incur during the process and the child support I will need to pay (my ex has not been working, or at least claimed to not be working).

What started out as a simple custody case quickly escalated into a legal nightmare when the mother of my child filed a restraining order and tried every legal maneuver to prolong the custody hearing of our child. Joy and her team were able to diffuse the legal roller coasters I was going through, present the judge with the facts, and show the lack of credibility of my ex.

Joy is professional, caring, and will go out of her way to make sure her clients are represented. On one of our court appearances, my ex managed to change the judge (a commissioner) to a different courthouse on the same day in the afternoon. Joy had another case in the afternoon and could not represent me, however, she managed to find just as good a replacement to represent me at a moment's notice! Sounds too good to be true.

When I first came in to consult with Joy about my situation I was worried about the legal cost that might add up. I will never forget when she said "this will be the best money you ever spent". Boy was she right! I now have 50/50 custody, don't have to pay my ex as much child support as we originally anticipated, Joy managed to convince the judge to impute more than a minimum wage salary on my ex, but most of all I have the peace of mind my daughter will share equal time with both of her parents.
