Karla L. de la Vega-Winters is our firm’s paralegal. She has over 20 years of experience in family law, a juris doctorate from American College of Law, and a bachelor’s degree in Political Science/Pre-Law with a minor in Economics from University of the Pacific, Stockton, California campus. Karla is a Certificated Mediator with a background in Collaborative Law, a legal process where couples work together to reach settlement without the threat of litigation.
While her background is in mediation and collaboration, Karla also possesses the skills to assist in litigation and trial preparation. She has extensive knowledge and understanding of the divorce process from the beginning to the end, whether the case is conscious uncoupling or requires court intervention. Karla has the intelligence and bedside manner to assist clients with the legal paperwork that may otherwise be daunting to them—in particular, discovery, mandatory financial disclosures, child support paperwork, and judicial council forms. She offers value to clients on a limited budget, as she can draft paperwork for attorney review.
Karla is a “serial volunteer” who donates several hours to her kids’ schools, serving as a Board Member of the Parent Teacher Organization (PTO), the Girls Scouts, and her church. On the weekends, you can find her either in the bleachers cheering on her son’s lacrosse team, or on the soccer field cheering for her daughter’s soccer team. She also enjoys football (she is an avid San Francisco 49er’s fan), LA Kings hockey, Dodgers baseball, theater, and dreams of retirement as a sommelier in France or a scuba diving instructor in Maui.
