How the Selection Process Works
Super Lawyers is a rating service that selects only the finest attorneys from over 70 practice areas. Candidates must have fostered both a certain degree of professional achievement and peer recognition to be considered for this list. Moreover, attorneys are prohibited from nominating themselves. Instead, attorneys are nominated by peers, the Super Lawyers research team, managing partner surveys, and third-party feedback.
Next, independent research is conducted, based on 12 different indicators of peer recognition and personal achievement, including experience, awards, scholarly lectures, and verdicts or settlements. Those with the highest scores from the previous steps will serve on a Blue Ribbon Panel where they will evaluate other candidates within their main practice area.
Only 5% of attorneys are selected to Super Lawyers and 2.5% are selected to Rising Stars. Candidates are only eligible for Rising Stars if they are 40 years of age or younger or have been practicing their primary area of law for 10 years or less.
